HBO to Replay Mayweather vs. Corrales and Cotto vs. Mosley

March 28, 2012 – HBO Sports® held a fan vote to decide which classic fights they would want to see air on the HBO2 service leading up to the super welterweight world championship fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto. The fans have chosen two riveting showdowns that highlight defining moments in the careers of both superstars.

On Friday, April 27 at 10:15 p.m. (ET/PT) and Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 p.m. (ET/PT), HBO2 will replay Mayweather vs. Corrales 2001 and Cotto vs. Mosley 2007. Mayweather, in one of the defining fights in his young career, dominated a much bigger Corrales and knocked him down five times en route to a 10th round TKO in January 2001. Meanwhile, Cotto out-jabbed and out-boxed Mosley, one of the best pound for pound greats, winning a 12-round decision to remain undefeated in November of 2007.

Both fights will be available 24 hours a day to HBO On Demand® subscribers from Monday, April 23 through Monday, May 7 as well as on HBO GO®.

Mayweather vs. Cotto takes place Saturday, May 5 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/ 6:00 p.m. PT.

No Doubt: Lamont Peterson vs. Amir Khan II……… Washington, DC Presser

The Fight Journal was in the house as Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan  hit the second leg of a three-city tour to promote their eagerly anticipated rematch.

The promotion titled “No Doubt:  Lamont Peterson vs. Amir Khan II  took place at the W Hotel and both fighters seemed to eager to settle the controversy of their first fight to leave ‘no doubt’ in the minds of the fans.  The DC Fight Diva, Crystal Hamlin was also in attendance on behalf of The Fight Journal and here’s how things played out:

Amir Khan’s commentary on the rematch:

“I want to thank the Peterson team for taking the rematch immediately.  They could have turned it down, but they didn’t.”

Lamont Peterson’s take on the second fight:

“To be honest, there were other fights out there offered for the same amount of money.  But the fans wanted the rematch and I wanted it.”

Peterson vs. Khan II, a 12-round Unified Super Lightweight World Title Fight for Peterson’s WBA World Super Championship and IBF World Championship taking place Saturday, May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev., is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Khan Promotions and Headbangers Promotions and sponsored by Corona and AT&T. The fight will be telecast live on HBO World Championship Boxing at 10:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. PT in the United States and live on Sky in the United Kingdom.

Tickets priced at $300, $200, $150, $100 and $50, not including applicable service charges, will be available for purchase at the Mandalay Bay box office and all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations.
