On Wednesday, July 8th, DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series returns to the B.B. King Blues Club in midtown Manhattan, NY. Headlining the ten-bout card will be junior lightweight Bryant “Peewee” Cruz (14-0, 7 KOs) against Martin Cardona (19-5, 14 KOs) in an eight rounder.
Also set to see action in separate eight-round bouts will be junior middleweight and former #1 US amateur Patrick Day (10-1-1) who squares off against Lenwood Dozier (9-7-1) and Brooklyn’s Shawn Cameron (9-0, 4 KOs) who he takes on Francisco Javier Reza (14-13) in a junior middleweight match-up.
Cruz, a native of Portchester, NY, has steadily become one of the more popular fighters throughout the entire New York City area since turning pro in December of 2012, following a second-place finish at the 2012 National Golden Gloves. Cruz kicked off his 2015 campaign in February, where he got off the canvas early against Jorge Pazos to win an eight-round unanimous decision. Cruz was sidelined for a couple months after the bout, as he allowed a nagging elbow injury to heel. Recently relocating his training camp to Houston, TX, Cruz has linked up with world-renowned trainer Ronnie Shields. The 25-year-old Cruz is looking to break into the national spotlight this year, but to do so, he must first get by Cardona.
Tickets are available for purchase by calling the DiBella Entertainment office at (212) 947-2577. Doors open at 6:30pm with the first bout scheduled for 7:00pm.
