The weigh-in is over. Tomorrow on HBO in Dusseldorf, Germany Wladimir “Dr. Steelhammer” Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) defends his World heavyweight title for the 19th time against Tyson “Batman” Fury (24-0, 18 KOs). The fight will be televised live on HBO at 4:45 PM ET, and replayed at 10:15 PM ET.
After pulling out almost all the strings of comedy he could leading up to the fight, Fury was on his best behavior for most of the weigh-in. There was a very long stare down that lasted at least one minute before the fighters were separated.
I have to say I’m disappointed. I thought Fury would have something special for the weigh-in. Maybe he is saving his antics for tomorrow night where they are expected to fight in front of nearly 60,000 crazed fans. On the line will be Klitschko’s WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts. Deontay Wilder holds the WBC title.
Fury said he saw ”fear” in Klitschko’s eyes.
”I see a nervous man, on his last legs, preparing to be taken out,” Fury said.
The unfortunate part about the weigh-in is that there were no fans to witness it. Only accredited media were allowed to witness. Security in the German city has been tightened after the terrorist attacks in Paris earlier this month.
This was on my list of fights I wanted to see in 2015 and we are just over 24 hours away from reality.
