Raleigh, NC (December 6) – When Top Catz Boxing formed, they made a commitment to entertaining and competitive fights. Top Catz Boxing is going above and beyond by adding Hall of Fame Promoter Russell Peltz as a key matchmaker/advisor.
Peltz was inducted in the international boxing hall of fame in 2004. He has promoted and co-promoted over 40 world championship fights, promoted multiple national TV fights, promoted big names like Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Bennie Briscoe, Meldrick Taylor, and Roberto Duran.
Peltz currently promotes WBA junior lightweight champion Jason Sosa, of Camden, NJ. Peltz was responsible for the development of Dwight Muhammad Qawi, WBA light-heavyweight and cruiserweight champion; Charlie “Choo Choo” Brown, IBF lightweight champ; Gary Hinton, IBF junior welterweight champ; Robert Hines, IBF junior middleweight champ; Prince Charles Williams, IBF light-heavyweight champ; Arturo Gatti, IBF junior lightweight champ; Charles Brewer, IBF super middleweight champ; Kassim Ouma, IBF junior middleweight champ.
Several of Peltz’s fights have been recognized as fight of the year candidates, and because of that, he has been named matchmaker of the year on several occasions. Peltz was voted promoter of the year by several publications, and in the early 90’s his only rival was Don King.
Top Catz Boxing will rely heavily on Peltz for his matchmaking skills. As a prominent Philadelphia sports writer would say, “Uncle Russ is the best. You don’t get much better, so Top Catz Boxing is in great hands. Wow! That is huge!”
Top Catz Boxing was even more excited, “Adding the expertise of Russell Peltz. It is not everyday you can get advice from a hall of famer. We have that, and we are going maximize all of our efforts and resources to make it work for us, North Carolina boxing, and more importantly, the fans.”
