The HBO telecast will begin at 10:05 p.m. ET/PT.

The Corrales vs. Machado bout is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

The Andrade – Fox bout is promoted by Banner Promotions, Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and A-Team Promotions, in association with DiBella Entertainment.

Andrade of Providence, Rhode Island was a 2008 United Sates Olympian, and the 2007 World Amateur Champion.  His success has continued in the professional ranks, as he has a perfect professional resume with a record of 24-0 with 16 knockouts.

Andrade, 29 years-old captured the WBO World Junior Middleweight crown with a 12-round split decision over fellow Olympian and previously undefeated Vanes Martirosyan on November 9, 2013.  Andrade defended the title with a sensational 7th round stoppage of mandatory challenger Brian Rose.

On March 11, 2017, Andrade became a two-time world champion when he won the WBA World Junior Middleweight Championship with a 12-round split decision over reigning champion Jack Culcay in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Fox of Forestville, Maryland has a undefeated mark of 23-0-1 with 11 knockouts.

The 25 year-old Fox stands 6’4″, and he has used that height to score impressive victories over Kenneth McNeil, Ronald Montes, Paul Valenzuela Jr.., and previously undefeated Patrick Day.

“First of all I need to thank HBO, and especially Peter Nelson for giving me this tremendous opportunity.  Thanks to him, I get a chance to not only have a great fight on October 21st, but I also get to show my fans on prime time that I’m the best fighter in the junior middleweight and now the Middleweight division, “said Andrade. “I can’t wait for the chance to fight more often and against the very best and thanks to HBO I finally have that chance! And I’m looking forward to giving my fans a great performance and I’m going to show them how much I appreciate their support by giving them a great show!”

“The Olympics were ten years ago.  He is not the same fighter.  I don’t see anything that he will do that can put a loss on my record.  I am going on HBO to put on a boxing exhibition,” said Fox.

“I am very happy for Demetrius to be back in the ring on HBO.  There are a lot of compelling fights that could take place on HBO for Demetrius’ future career,” said Artie Pelullo, President of Banner Promotions.

CLETUS SELDIN TO FACE RENALD GARRIDO IN MAIN EVENT OF “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS”

CLETUS SELDIN TO FACE RENALD GARRIDO IN MAIN EVENT OF “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS”
CLETUS “THE HEBREW HAMMER” SELDIN
 v
RENALD “LIONS HEART” GARRIDO
 SEPT 28 at the PARAMOUNT
New York, August 30, 2017
A rough and Frenchman will be making the trip across the Atlantic Ocean in an effort to derail the long awaited return of “The Hebrew Hammer” Cletus Seldin, 19-0 16KO’s (Long Island, NY)  in the main event of Rockin’ Fights 28 on Thursday, September 28th at The Paramount in Huntington, NY.
Star Boxing has just announced that the hard punching Jewish knockout prospect

will be facing former French Jr. Welterweight Champion Renald Garrido of Paris, France in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds in the Jr. Welterweight division.
Garrido’s a veteran of over 36 fights with 19 wins (19-15-2 4KO’s).  He has some impressive upset wins on his record, particularly when traveling to fight hometown favorites.  He has already upset local undefeated fighters Bradley Saunders (in England) and Daouda Sow (in France).  Garrido is much better than his record indicates and he has battled tooth and nail with some of the top Jr. Welterweights around the world including Frankie Gavin, Ceferino Rodriguez, and Serhiy Fedchenko.  Garrido has never been stopped in his entire career of 36 professional bouts.
Garrido has a similar style to Seldin, as he is known for his aggressiveness and non- stop punching which will make for a highly entertaining bout.
Garrido, thrilled to have the chance to topple another top prospect said:  “I am the specialist in beating the undefeated no matter which country I fight.  Prepare for the arrival of the LION and an anthology brawl”.
The Hebrew Hammer Seldin brings a fervent fan base to The Paramount. They have been clamoring for him to get back in the ring as the all action, power punching Jr. Welterweight never fails to thrill his large contingent of fans.
Seldin, when asked about fighting a former French champ and real tough veteran after a one-year layoff said: “This guy is a real scrapper, his style is just like mine and this is going to be a real scrappy and exciting fight for me and the fans”.
Cletus Seldin, more commonly known as the ‘Hebrew Hammer’ was laying a path of destruction on his way to a world championship fight until he was derailed by various aliments.  “The Hammer” is one of the hardest punchers in the division and has drawn sellout crowds to every fight.

Seldin, inactive since June of 2016 due to various medical issues, is now 100% healthy and is chomping at the bit to get back inside the ring.  The former WBC International Silver Super Lightweight Champion will be making his 16th appearance at The Paramount and currently holds a 7 fight knockout streak.
Promoter Joe DeGuardia had these thoughts about the main event “It’s long overdue getting Cletus back in the ring at The Paramount and he certainly has not picked an easy opponent for his return. Garrido can fight and brings it every time he steps into the ring.  This will be a sensational battle and you better get your tickets early because there is no doubt in my mind that we will once again sellout The Paramount on September 28th.”
The undercard will be announced shortly.

WILD NIGHT OF UPSETS HIGHLIGHTS THRILLING

“ROCKIN’ FIGHTS 27” AT THE PARAMOUNT

flier1flier2flier3

The term “Theatre of the Unexpected” is often used in Boxing, and on Friday night July 28th at the Paramount in Huntington, Long Island, NY, Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing certainly provided the capacity crowd with something they won’t soon forget.

The main event saw local hero Anthony “Showtime” Karperis of nearby Hicksville take on the Bronx’ Louis Cruz.  The two waged a fierce battle throughout the fight taking turns battering each other until a vicious uppercut by Cruz in the final seconds of the 9th round dropped Karperis.

Karperis was visibly hurt and Cruz swarmed in with a flurry of punches and closed the show with only one second left in the round as the referee called the fight off.  Karperis was dominating the round and had Cruz pinned in the neutral corner when out of nowhere the debilitating punch was delivered.  The fight was nip and tuck the whole way with the balance of the fight to be decided in the final two rounds.  Karperis drops to 14-3 5KO while Cruz improves to 12-3 6KO’s.  The bout was scheduled for 10 rounds in the Jr. Welterweight division.

The co-featured 8 round Lightweight bout saw Brooklyn’s Dean Burrell, 12-1-1 9KO’s battle it out with upset minded Carlos Osorio, 13-7 5KO’s from El Viejo, Nicaragua.  Burrell was looking to capitalize on his last Paramount appearance, a stunning KO of Huntington’s own Johnny Hernandez, but ended up in the fight of his life as the two fought each other from the opening to the final bell much to the delight of the capacity crowd.  Osorio was the aggressor the entire fight but Burrell stood his ground and traded freely with Osorio.  In the end the judges were split, with one judge scoring the bout 77-75 in favor of Burrell, another 77-75 in favor of Osorio, while the third and deciding judge saw the fight even at 76-76, thus resulting in a draw.  A rematch would be in order for this terrific fight.

Undefeated Welterweight Tyrone James from Elmont, Long Island, improved to 5-0 3KO’s as he destroyed the usually durable and tough Alexander Picot, 2-4-1 Hartford, CT, inside of one round.  James wasted no time as he jumped all over Picot unleashing hard shots to the head and body. Picot was left virtually helpless against the ropes forcing the referee to call a halt to the action. The bout was scheduled for 6 rounds.

The opening fight saw Rochester, NY native Sequan Felton score his first win as a pro as he ruined the pro debut of NYC fighter Harrison Barba by scores of 40-36 and 39-37 twice.  The action was thrilling between these two young fighters as the aggressive Barba went right after Felton who threw some eye-catching combinations of his own.  After 4 rounds of this fast paced Lightweight fight the unanimous decision was announced in Felton’s favor as he improves to 1-2 and Barba falls to 0-1.

Jr. Middleweights Abner Guadalupe of the Bronx and Newark’s Simon Saye also went to war for 4 rounds. After the dust cleared the bout was ruled a majority draw.  Scores were 39-37 for Guadalupe, which was over ruled by matching scores of 38-38 by the 2 remaining judges.  Guadalupe is now 0-0-1 while Saye is 0-1-1. With Picot’s reputation for coming to fight, and James’ reputation for exciting bouts, this is shaping up to be yet another exciting battle at The Paramount.Simon Saye (0-1 Newark, NJ) will have the honors of taking on pro debuter Abner Guadalupe of the Bronx, NY in a 4 round Super Welterweight contest. Guadalupe is managed by the former NY State Commissioner and current Sirius radio commentator, Randy Gordon, and promises to make his pro debut a successful one.Opening the show will pro debuter Harrison Barba hailing from NYC who will face Rochester’s Sequan Felton a 4 round Super Featherweight match. Both fighters are looking to put a win on their pro records and matchmaker Ron Katz promises this fight will round out an exciting undercard at the Paramount.

Promoter Joe DeGuardia had these comments about the undercard, “Ron Katz tells me he has put together a great undercard, which will bring extremely competitive and fan favorite fights from beginning to end. Unfortunately, because of the recent insurance and medical rules in place in New York, it has constrained our ability to put on more then 5 fights, but Ron promises that each bout will be sensational from the opening bell as become custom at The Paramount.  We are proud that we have been able to keep these club shows from becoming extinct in New York.”The main event features Hicksville’s Anthony “Showtime” Karperis (14-2 5KO’s Hicksville, NY) as he returns to The Paramount for the 14th time.  This may prove his toughest battle to date as he fights against former NY Golden Glove champ Louis Cruz (11-3 5KO’s Bronx, NY) who will look to steal the show. This will be the 27th edition of Joe DeGuardia’s acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights” series.Karperis is coming off a career best effort in his last fight stopping fellow prospect Scott Burrell on March 24th at the Paramount.  Karperis has won 10 of his last 11 bouts, all at the Paramount and is following in the footsteps of Star Boxing’s Chris Algieri, Joe Smith, and Cletus Seldin, becoming the next big attraction developed at the Paramount.  The Hicksville native has a huge fan base supporting him each fight and has steadily shown improvement from fight to fight.  On July 28th Karperis will be taking on his most dangerous opponent to date in Louis Cruz.Cruz, a former NY Golden Glove champion, a Bronx native, has never shied away from a challenge as he has taken on solid opposition throughout his career and knows he will have to be at his best when he takes on the exciting Karperis on July 28th.

Promoter Joe DeGuardia had this to say about the July 28th main event “This is what New York boxing used to be like and is supposed to be like.  Two young kids, one from Long Island, one from the Bronx, putting it on the line to try and further their careers.  This is a good match-up and I expect another sellout at the Paramount– so get your tickets early”.Tickets are $50 and up and are available now at Star Boxing 718 823-2000 or by going to www.starboxing.com, the Paramount Box Office 631 673-7300, or through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1 (800) 745-3000.”Rockin Fights” are sponsored by Legacy Advisors, Montauk Iced Tea, Modell’s Sporting Goods stores, The Inn at Fox Hollow and Camelot Limousine.

Known as “The Common Man”, Irish-American Joe Smith Jr. burst onto the international boxing scene last June, knocking out the highly favored, former world title challenger Andrzej Fonfara in the first round of a nationally televised contest (NBC) from the Pole’s hometown of Chicago.

Six months later Smith challenged future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins at the Fabulous Forum and live on HBO. Dominating the legend on December 17 through the first seven rounds, the construction union laborer Smith drilled Hopkins to the canvas and out of the ring earning the knockout in the eighth round.

Sullivan Barrera is riding a two bout knockout streak with victories over Paul Parker on April 15 and Vyacheslav Shabaranskyy on December 16, 2016. His only loss was a decision to light heavyweight champion Andre Ward in March 2016, and Barrera is considered one of the top fighters in the stacked division.

Smith vs. Barrera is presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Main Events. This fight is part of a sensational triple header featuring Miguel Berchelt vs. Takashi Miura, a 12-round fight for the WBC Super Featherweight World Championship and the WBA Super Featherweight World Championship with Jezreel “El Invisible” Corrales defending his title against Robinson “Robin Hood” Castellanos. Berchelt-Miura is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zanfer Promotions and Teiken Promotions.

The undercard for the highly anticipated fight between Cletus “The Hebrew Hammer” Seldin and “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis on Thursday, June 15th, at the Paramount in Huntington, NY has been announced.  The fights will feature a bevy of Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing® young prospects.

Highlighted bouts include the undefeated Tyrone “Pretty Boy” James (4-0 2KO’S Elmont, NY) taking on William Hill (2-2 Detroit, MI) in a 6 round Welterweight match.

Tyrone James will be making his 4th straight appearance at the Paramount and is developing a large fan base due to the exciting fights he has made there.  The undefeated boxer-puncher is coming off a decision win at the Paramount on March 24th over the very tough Quincy Brown.  This will be James’ first 6 round fight and he has accepted a very ambitious opponent from Detroit, William Hill.  Hill has won 2 of his last 4 bouts and has faced an undefeated opponent in each of his fights,  James will be his 5th undefeated opponent he will be up against.

Terrell Bostic (3-0 1KO Wyandanch, NY) facing off against Alexander Picot ( 2-3-1 Hartford, CT) in a 6 round Jr. Welterweight fight.

Bostic will also be making his 4th appearance at the Paramount and is also coming off a thrilling victory on March 24th against Grashino Yancy.  Bostic is facing a very dangerous opponent, Alexander Picot.  Picot has faced top prospects Richard Wiggins and Irving Torres, and has a reputation for always coming to fight hard.  This will be another stern test for Bostic, a highly regarding prospect.

The always exciting Vincenzo D’Angelo (2-0 Queens, NY) will battle with undefeated Duquan Burgos (1-0 Bronx, NY) in a 4 round Super Middleweight fight.  D’Angelo has had both his fights at the Paramount and has a huge following of enthusiastic fans who will be cheering for the new Italian Stallion.  Burgos, a Bronx Bomber, is also looking to remain undefeated in this fight where ‘an O must go’.

Dan Cion (0-1 Farmingdale, NY) will be stepping in against pro debuter Abner Guadalupe of the Bronx, NY. Cion went to war with Vincenzo D’Angelo in his pro debut and the Boxer/MMA fighter gave it his all although being defeated.  Guadalupe is managed by the former NY State Commissioner and current commentator, Randy Gordon, and promises to make his pro debut a successful one.

Promoter Joe DeGuardia had these comments about the undercard, “We have again stacked our undercard with exciting, competitive bouts between hungry young pugilists.  Unfortunately, due to the new insurance and medicals rules in place in New York which are very cost prohibitive to all of us in New York, we can only put on 5 fights but each and every one of them will have you on your feet cheering, as that has become the tradition here at the Paramount”.

The main event is a fantastic one where Cletus “The Hebrew Hammer” Seldin (19-0 16 KO’s Long Island, NY) takes on former world title challenger “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis (26-10-2 13 KO’s Atlantic City, NJ) in what shapes up to be the most experienced and dangerous opponent the “Hebrew Hammer” has ever faced.  The show will be the 27th edition of Joe DeGuardia’s acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights” series.

“The Common Man” Joe Smith Jr. Battles Sullivan Barrera Saturday, July 15 From The Fabulous Forum and on HBO Boxing After Dark

NEW YORK CITY:  “The Common Man”, Joe Smith Jr., (23-1, 19 KO’s), boxing’s best story of 2016, will make his first start of the new year, defending his WBC International Light Heavyweight Title against world ranked Sullivan Barrera, (19-1, 14 KO’s) on Friday, July 15 from the iconic, Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles and live on HBO’s Boxing After Dark (9:50 p.m. ET/PT).

Smith vs. Barrera is presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing® in association with Main Events. The 27-year-old Smith of Long Island, New York said, “I’m thrilled to be back on HBO against another top light heavyweight, Sullivan Barrera, I’ve already started training and will be ‘more than ready’ on July 15. There’s a number of great fighters in our division and I’m looking forward to another victory on my way to a world title shot.” “This is a great opportunity for me. I want to thank my entire team for making this happen. I respect Joe for taking this fight. He is a great fighter and I have a tough test on July 15. I will work hard to put on a great show for all the fans,” stated Barrera.

“This should be a spectacular fight,” said Joe DeGuardia, President and CEO of Star Boxing. “Over the past few months many have refused to fight Joe Smith Jr., so I give credit to Sullivan Barrera, who, like Joe, is a tough fighter willing to fight anyone. Joe’s captivating rise as a humble working-class ‘Common Man’ has resonated with sports fans all over the world and I look forward to being at the Forum on HBO as Joe and Sullivan battle for the future.”

Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events, stated, “This is a really interesting fight. It is a can’t miss because Barrera and Smith are both finishers. We are all eager to see how this plays out and I give credit to both men for wanting a challenge.”

Smith bursted onto the international boxing scene last June, knocking out the highly favored, former world title challenger, Andrzej Fonfara in the first round of a nationally televised contest from the Pole’s hometown of Chicago.

Six months later Smith challenged future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins at the Fabulous Forum and live on HBO. Dominating the legend on December 17 through the first seven rounds, the construction laborer Smith drilled Hopkins to the canvas and out of the ring earning the knockout in the eighth round.

Barrera is riding a two bout knockout streak with victories over Paul Parker on April 15 and Vyacheslav Shabaranskyy on December 16, 2016. His only loss was to light heavyweight champion Andre Ward in March 2016.

FIGHTNIGHT LIVE ON FACEBOOK OPENS WITH KNOCKOUT NUMBERS

NEW YORK – May 12, 2017

“FIGHTNIGHT LIVE” ON FACEBOOK OPENS WITH KNOCKOUT NUMBERS

Boxing, MMA streaming series debut draws 40,000 views, and still climbing.

The reviews are in, and the numbers are in, and the decision is unanimous: the debut of FIGHTNIGHT LIVE, on Facebook Live Thursday evening from Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, was a KO victory.

Watchers of the stream, which drew 37,000-plus “uniques” on fight night, and continues to draw clicks, enjoyed a Star Boxing® main event topped by a junior middleweight scrap between vet Delvin Rodriguez and up ‘n comer Courtney Pennington.

More numbers: Almost 3,000 comments were shared by watchers during the four plus hour show, which provided incredible value for fans of the sweet science. Fans said things like, “This is the future of the sport, live FREE streaming.” “This stream is giving expose to young guns that would not ordinarily get it on broadcast TV!” “After tonight’s streaming many will talk about it and many more will watch if there’s a next time, this is the bomb!”

“I was inundated with complimentary texts, emails and calls almost as soon as the stream started, and it was a lot of fun watching the numbers swell from 27 views at the start of the broadcast to 40,000-plus by now,” said Mark Fratto, Principal of Linacre Media. “Like many others, we believe that the present and future of ‘televised’ boxing, MMA, Muay Thai and really all live sports is digital. Further, by putting these events on Facebook we’re providing an interactive environment for fight fans to not only view the events, but to connect with each other and provide their own real-time commentary during the bouts. We believe in high-quality, cost-efficient production that can give fans free access to hundreds of global, national and regional live fight nights without breaking the bank of the promoter and also without sacrificing what sports fans have come to expect from their viewing experience – multiple camera angles, graphics, replays and behind-the-scenes access and interviews. We don’t want traditional fans, digital customers and cord-cutters to be relegated to trying to watch other spectators’ live feeds off their cell phones.”

Promoter Joe DeGuardia went on air during the main event. He was visibly impressed and shared his enthusiasm while watching Pennington spring the upset.

“This has been incredible,” DeGuardia said. “It is great that fans will now be able to see more fights on a platform with massive reach. This is good for everyone and a perfect way for fighters to expand their fan base. I am pleased to be involved.”

Said boxing fan-favorite Ray Flores, who sat in the blow-by-blow chair, “It was an honor to  be a part of FIGHTNIGHT LIVE and work with such talented individuals. I’m extremely excited about what the future has in store for the series. More than anything, thank you to all the fight fans who tuned, shared it, and commented. Fan interaction and world class fights is the basis for FIGHTNIGHT LIVE. I cannot wait for the next show!”

“We want to have something of a distinct identity,” said analyst Michael Woods, who publishes NYFights.com and does the TALBOX podcast for Everlast. “We want watchers to be able to interact with us, be part of the show, have a voice. We also want to have fun, keep it loose at times, as well. We will be incorporating that interactivity even more going forward. This series aims to be and I think is well on its way to establishing a paradigm in the space.”

“We firmly believe this new series is beneficial to all parties involved. More exposure for the sport and for the fighters,” said Fratto, whose production services company does 200 live events each year.  “This production model is designed to be lean and cost-effective. And that enables us to cover more events, and with Facebook, we know we are being seen world wide and on a platform with a great deal of potential.”

Future FIGHTNIGHT LIVE dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
