TOLEDO, OH (May 11, 2017) – Unbeaten lightweight world champion Robert Easter (19-0, 14 KOs) will defend his title in his hometown when he takes on mandatory challenger Denis Shafikov (38-2-1, 20 KOs) in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on Bounce live from the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, June 30.

Televised coverage begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will be headlined by the hometown star Easter, who last defended his title in the same venue and on Bounce by knocking down Luis Cruz three times on his way to a unanimous decision.

“I am always happy to fight at home, but I think the excitement in Toledo will be even bigger this time and I can’t wait,” said Easter. “I also have a baby on the way and the due date is June 5, so I will be able to fight knowing my son is here and I am extra pumped because of that. I know that I have a tough opponent, but I am not afraid of any fighter. This is what boxing is about. Shafikov is coming to take my belt, but I know that I will be victorious once again.”

“I’m looking forward to this fight on June 30,” said Shafikov. “I know that I have a very tough opponent in front of me. I have been waiting for this opportunity to get this belt and I plan on doing everything in my power to make it happen.”

“This is going to be Robert’s biggest challenge yet,” said Ravone Littlejohn, CEO of About Billions Promotions. “Shafikov is a tough fighter and this is exactly the type of fight Robert needs as he steps up to the next level of championship boxing. This fight is going to prepare him for his future and we’re excited to be back in Toledo for it.”

“This bout has Fight of the Year written all over it,” said Leon Margules, President of Warriors Boxing. “Both fighters gained their position by beating the same fighter, Richard Commey, by identical split decisions. That, plus the enthusiasm of Robert Easter’s hometown fans, will make June 30 a night to remember.”

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by About Billions Promotions in association with Warriors Boxing, are priced at $225 $125, $100, $75, $55 and $35, and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

An accomplished amateur who was a 2012 U.S. Olympic alternate, the 26-year-old Easter picked up five-straight victories dating back to the beginning of 2015 before earning his world title opportunity against Richard Commey in September 2016. Easter was successful in holding off the unbeaten Commey as he was able to earn a split-decision victory in a memorable fight. Now, Easter will step into the ring as the fighting pride of his hometown for the second time, looking to dispatch arguably his toughest opponent to date.

A 31-year-old brawler from Russia, Shafikov brings an exciting style to the ring as he prepares to capitalize on his third world title opportunity. A pro since 2003, Shafikov was unbeaten in his first 34 pro contests and has challenged Rances Barthelemy and Miguel Vazquez in his previous title fights that both went to decisions. Shafikov impressed in his two outings last year, first earning a stoppage victory over then unbeaten Jamel Herring in July before earning this title fight by beating Richard Commey in December.

The Card Will Be Rescheduled for A Future Date

LAS VEGAS (February 28, 2017) – The featherweight championship match between Gary Russell Jr. and Oscar Escandon, scheduled for Saturday, March 11 at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland, has been postponed after Escandon was injured in training, according to Escandon’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz.

“Oscar suffered an injury to his back in training and he’ll be ready to go in April,” Lewkowicz said. “He’s very sorry for the delay in the fight, but these things happen in boxing. He’s really looking forward to facing Gary Russell, Jr., but he wants to be completely healthy when they do meet.”

Escandon, a 32-year-old Colombian with a record of 25-2 with 17 KOs, is the mandatory challenger for Russell’s featherweight championship. Jermell Charlo defending his 154-pound title against Charles Hatley will be the co-feature on the rescheduled card. (more…)

bronergranados

broner

Story by:  NaKeela Taylor

Fans, Adrien “The Problem” Broner is back!  The former four-division champion Broner, (32-2, 24 KOs) will take on the extremely dangerous Adrian Granados (18-4-2, 12 KOs) in a homecoming fight at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The bout will be fought at junior welterweight (super lightweight) and televised on Showtime February 18 at 9:00pm eastern time.

“The Problem” was last seen in our nation’s capital, disposing of Ashley Theophane in a workmanlike knockout in the ninth round.

Broner has won titles at 139, 135, 140, and  147.  He’s won two in a row since a disappointing decision loss against Shawn Porter back in 2015.  He  defeated Khabib Allakhverdiev for the vacant WBA World super lightweight title prior to Theophane.

“I’m back at home and excited to get back in the ring,” said Broner. “I’m ready to fight. The boxing game isn’t the same without me. Granados is a solid guy who beat someone that no one thought he would beat. I know him well and I know there’s no doubt he’ll be ready to fight.”

Granados is on a five-fight win streak since suffering a split decision loss to Brad Solomon after dealing with a majority draw against Felix Diaz.  Mixed in his wins was a big upset over prospect Amir Imam via TKO8.

“I’m fully prepared to go to war with Adrien Broner on February 18 in Cincinnati,” said Granados. “I’m very thankful to Tom Brown of TGB promotions and my manager Andy Zak for helping me get this big opportunity on SHOWTIME. I’m training hard and I will come out victorious on fight night.”

This is the kind of matchup I like for both fighters at this point.  Granados is looking to take the next step and get into the title picture.  A win here will do it for him.   Broner is seeking to be 100 percent focused on boxing now that his legal issues are past him.  This should be a good one!

Story by: Brandi Miller

Tyrieshia “Lady Tiga” Douglas 4-0 (1KO) returns to the ring on June 28th at DuBurns Arena in Baltimore, MD. She will face Christina Fuentes in a six round bout. In her last bout she had a rematch against Marisol Miranda in which she completely dominated once again and also forced Miranda into retirement. Douglas is campaigning from 108lbs to 115lbs challenging anyone who will face her. Her goal is to be a world champion before the 2014 year is up.

She recently made a few changes in her camp and now trains with promoter and trainer James Hogan. Douglas and Hogan share the same goal of gaining recognition for women’s boxing. The card she is fighting on will also be host to the main event between Tori Nelson vs Nicole Woods.

I interviewed Douglas where she spoke of the horrors of her upbringing and how she plans to still strive for greatness regardless of obstacles in her way. Douglas and her siblings had been bounced around from group home to group home. She has been through much adversity but has found a passion in which she can release some of her pain. Boxing has been the gateway for not only her but also her younger brother, rising prospect Antoine Douglas. Both Tyrieshia and Antoine competed in the 2012 Olympic trials making them the first brother and sister to compete in the Olympic boxing trials. Now that they both have turned professional they continue their climb to success.

Tyrieshia is lined up for big fights should she get past her opponent this Saturday. She plans to make two major fights later this year. Her dream is to become a role model for any person who has struggled in life and show them that its possible to achieve anything through hard work. She will continue to fight for those who are underprivileged and to fight for women to become household names in the sport of boxing. You can follow Tyrieshia Douglas on instagram @lady_tiga or on twitter @Douglas_Tiga1.

The Ponytail Promotions card will take place this Saturday June 28th at DuBurns Arena 3100 Boston St Baltimore, MD. Doors open at 6pm. Prices are $30, $50, and $75.
